Understanding and communicating financial information is an essential feature of the work of managers in all organisations. Students entering as potential managers must therefore have knowledge and appreciation of the key organisational financial objectives and responsibilities and of the financial pressures under which they operate. A student armed with such information would hopefully be able to contribute more effectively and swiftly to their career development.

Business Environment

The focus of this module is on the business environment and the drivers of change within it, the macro forces that shape the VUCA (volatile, uncertain, complex & ambiguous) world we live in and thus the context in which business operates. Students are asked to use the core module PESTLE and ‘Five Forces’ frameworks to make sense of events and their impact on businesses.

Information Management

This module focuses on delivering a broad range of digital literacy skills that align with the requirements for studying in higher education. These include learning to source and access information across networks, analyse digital resources and reuse to develop knowledge and understanding while developing skills in academic integrity.

Business in Society

The module aims to provide students from all backgrounds with the appropriate skills and knowledge which is essential in dealing with a variety of situations involving people at work. The module provides a firm basis of practical ‘people management’ knowledge for nonspecialist and specialist managers of people in any type of organisation and industry.

Managing People, Organisations and Management

The module aims to provide students from all backgrounds with the appropriate skills and knowledge which are essential in dealing with a variety of situations involving people at work. This module provides a firm basis of practical ‘people management’ knowledge for non-specialist and specialist managers of people in any type of organisation and industry.

Accounting for Business

This module aims to give students a basic knowledge of financial accounting (context, purposes, regulatory framework). It introduces the principal concepts of financial accounting. The preparation of principal financial statements will also be explored.

Multinational Business Finance

This module is also designed to introduce students to key management accounting skills necessary to support decision-making. It will emphasis the acquisition and application of skills and knowledge necessary to inform managers responsible for planning, decision-making and control and will provide the underpinning skills and knowledge required for more advanced study.

Marketing Management

This marketing management module explores the challenges faced by modern organisations in a fast moving and rapidly changing environment. It considers how definitions and perspectives on marketing have changed and continues to change in the face of rising consumer sophistication and increasing complexity and expectations

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

Age Requirements
  • 17 years old
Academic Requirements
    • Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘A’ level Examination in the English medium and must have obtained all of the following:
      At least two passes in subjects at H2 level with One H1 Level pass and attempted General Paper (GP) or Knowledge & Inquiry (KI)

OR

    • Formal International Year 12 Education

OR

    • International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma awarded by the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO)

OR

    • Polytechnic Diploma Holder in any field of study from a local polytechnic in Singapore

OR

    • BTEC level 4 HNC in any field of study

OR

    • An approved Diploma or Advanced Diploma from private education institutions of Singapore which has the minimum entry requirements as follows,
      GCE ‘O’ Level or equivalent;

OR

  • Nitec, Higher Nitec or equivalent.
English Proficiency Requirements
    • Students must complete and obtain a Pass in English in high school.
      If English is not the medium of studies or learning in the high school or taken as a 2nd language, then the following requirements applies:
      IELTS 5.5;

OR

    • TOFEL 550 (paper-base) + 4 in TWE or 79 (iBT);

OR

    • SAT1 score 550 (Critical reading & writing);

OR

    • PTE Academic score 42/100;

OR

  • An equivalent English language qualification
Mature Applicants
  • Candidates who are at least 30 years of age with at least 8 years of working experience (after graduation from Junior College) as at 1st July of the admission year may apply for admission as Mature Applicants.
  • To qualify as a mature applicant, you are required to submit a Personal Statement of not more than 200 words and 2 Referee Reports from at least one employer. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview.
Accreditation of prior learning (APL) / credit exemption
  • Students with prior qualifications may be eligible for credit exemption or Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL). These exemptions are subject to approval by the Amity Examination Board and are determined on a case-by-case basis.
    The following qualifications are eligible for consideration:
  • Polytechnic Diploma holder in a relevant field of study from a local polytechnic in Singapore.
    An approved Diploma or Advanced Diploma from private education institutions in Singapore, with prior entry requirements equivalent to the GCE ‘A’ Level Examination (or equivalent) at the time of admission to the qualifying Diploma.
  • The transcript from your diploma course must demonstrate that you have read and passed the equivalents of essential Amity Diploma modules. APL is approved by the Examination Board of Amity. Maximum credits for APL approval will not greater than 50%.
