Job Description: Senior Lecturer in IT

Purpose

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Lecturer in IT to join our academic team to deliver high-quality instruction across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.  The successful candidate will play a key role in curriculum delivery, student mentoring, and academic development in the field of Information Technology.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver engaging and effective lectures, tutorials, and practical sessions across undergraduate and postgraduate modules.
  2. Develop and update teaching materials, lesson plans, course specifications, and assessment tools in line with curriculum requirements.
  3. Facilitate student learning through interactive classroom environments, blended learning platforms, and real-world project-based teaching.
  4. Assess and evaluate student progress through assignments, examinations, presentations, and practical assessments.
  5. Provide academic and career guidance to students; act as an academic advisor and mentor.
  6. Participate in curriculum review and development to ensure relevance to industry standards and academic quality.
  7. Engage in continuous professional development to stay current in the IT field and adopt innovative teaching practices.
  8. Contribute to departmental meetings, quality assurance processes, and academic reporting as required.
  9. Support student activities, clubs, and industry engagement initiatives as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree (PhD preferred) in a relevant IT discipline
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience
  • Strong knowledge of core IT subjects – programming, databases, networking, systems analysis, cybersecurity, and software development
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
  • Ability to engage students from diverse backgrounds
  • Professional certifications (e.g. CompTIA, Cisco, Microsoft, AWS)
  • Pedagogical training or teaching certification (e.g. ACLP, PGCert, PGCHE, Diploma in Education and Training)
  • Experience in curriculum development and instructional design
  • Familiarity with online teaching platforms and tools (e.g. Moodle, Blackboard, MS Teams)

Job Description: External Examiner (Doctoral Level) for Business and Education studies

Purpose

To provide an independent and expert evaluation of a doctoral thesis and the candidate’s performance during the viva voce (oral examination), ensuring academic standards are upheld and the degree awarded meets national and institutional criteria.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Pre-Viva Responsibilities
  • Thoroughly review the thesis for originality, critical engagement, methodology, contribution to knowledge, and coherence.
  • Prepare a preliminary report (often called a pre-viva report or independent report) outlining the strengths and weaknesses of the thesis.
  • Submit report prior to viva, typically without communication with the candidate.
  1. Viva Voce Examination
  • Participate in and co-lead the oral examination, assessing the candidate’s ability to defend their work.
  • Ask questions to probe the candidate’s understanding of their research, the context, and implications.
  • Collaborate with the internal examiner to form a joint decision on the examination outcome.
  • Ensure the viva is conducted fairly and professionally, in line with university regulations.
  1. Post-Viva Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the joint examiners’ report, stating the outcome and any required corrections or resubmission.
  • Ensure clarity in feedback to support the candidate’s revisions (if applicable).
  • Confirm corrections (sometimes the external may be asked to approve resubmitted versions, but often the internal does this).

Essential Criteria / Qualifications

  • A Doctorate qualification in Business or Education
  • Subject matter expertise aligned with the thesis topic.
  • Proven track record in doctoral supervision and examination.
  • Independence from the candidate and supervisory team (no recent collaborations or conflicts of interest).
  • Familiarity with UK PhD examination standards (or international equivalent).

Job Description: Doctor of Education Dissertation Supervisor

Position Overview

You will receive monthly payments based on the total hours of supervision provided. You are required to submit a monthly progress report using the designated online platform to document the supervision conducted. The Academic Director will review and verify the progress reports and supervision hours before forwarding them to management for approval.

 

Principal Accountabilities

• Supervision: Provide 40 hours of supervision over 36 months.
• Monthly Meetings: Conduct regular meetings to monitor student progress and offer guidance.
• Progress Reports: Submit a brief monthly progress report for each student.
• Key Areas of Guidance:
1. Proposal Refinement: Help students refine research proposals, including objectives and design.
2. Literature Review: Assist with comprehensive literature reviews and theoretical framework development.
3. Methodology Development: Guide students in drafting methodology and preparing ethics approval.
4. Pilot Study & Data Collection: Oversee pilot studies and provide feedback during data collection.
5. Data Analysis & Dissertation: Support students through data analysis, drafting findings, and writing their discussion chapters.
6. Final Submission: Aid in final revisions, proofreading, and viva voce preparation.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Keeping records of student grades and performance.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum a Master’s degree in Business Administration. Management or a related field.
  • Teaching qualifications, e.g. Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA), Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP) and Diploma in Adult and Continuing Education (DACE) will also be an added advantage.

 

Selection Criteria

  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience in higher education
  • A strong track record of teaching and research in business management.
  • Expertise in specific areas of business management, such as strategic management, entrepreneurship, marketing, finance, or organizational behaviour.
  • Proven ability to engage and inspire students through effective teaching methods.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong research skills and a demonstrated ability to publish in reputable academic journals.
  • Experience in curriculum development and program design is desirable.
  • Leadership skills and the ability to collaborate with colleagues and industry professionals.

 

Salary range:

$4,500 to $7,000
