Lunar New Year Celebration | Amity Singapore
January 18, 2023
Chinese New Year, also known as Spring Festival or Lunar New Year, is typically celebrated over 15 days and is a time for families and friends to gather together and participate in various activities, such as preparing and eating traditional foods and participating in cultural performances.
On our campus, we celebrated the New Year yesterday with events like: Teaching students about the background and customs of Chinese New Year, such as the significance of the Rabbit in the Chinese zodiac. Professor Leon Choong, our Regional CEO (ASEAN), has gifted students with oranges and tangerines as they symbolize good luck and wealth. Students have created New Year decorations, such as lanterns or dragon puppets and performed traditional Chinese dances or songs.
Celebrating these school events is a great way to promote diversity and cultural awareness among students. It also allows students to learn about different traditions and customs fun and engagingly. Additionally, it’s also an excellent opportunity for students to collaborate with other peers to create a memorable and meaningful experience.
