Master of Science Artificial Intelligence
The MSc in Artificial Intelligence from Teesside University is a postgraduate programme designed to provide students with advanced theoretical knowledge and practical expertise in AI, machine learning, and data analytics. The course integrates foundational principles with specialist modules in intelligent decision support, statistical methods, and ethical applications of AI. Learning Outcomes
By the end of the programme, graduates will be able to:
- Apply AI applications – Demonstrate expertise in AI and DS applications such as chatbots, medical diagnosis, biometric recognition, fraud detection, and autonomous systems, while critically assessing risks and opportunities.
- Design decision support systems – Develop computerised methods for supporting complex decisions in technology, health, and business contexts.
- Employ statistical methods – Apply correlation, regression, and data normalisation techniques to analyse and interpret quantitative and qualitative datasets.
- Utilise machine learning – Build predictive models and apply computational techniques, including neural networks and adaptive systems, to solve real‑world problems.
- Conduct research in computing – Critically evaluate academic literature, apply research strategies, and uphold ethical standards in computing research.
- Apply AI foundations – Use computational methods to extract knowledge from large datasets, addressing challenges of volume, velocity, and variety in modern data analytics.
- Deliver independent projects – Undertake a substantial master’s project, producing impactful deliverables such as software, prototypes, datasets, or research findings, with critical evaluation and industry relevance.
Artificial intelligence (AI) is increasingly important in developments in all parts of business and society. The course gives you specialist skills in artificial intelligence, opening the door to a range of careers. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS
Age Requirements
- 20 years old
Academic Requirements
- An honours degree with a minimum grade-point average of 2.7/4.0
English Language Requirements
- If your first language is not English, you will need an IELTS score of 6.0 equivalent with no component below 5.5
- Singapore-Cambridge GCE O Level English – Grade C or above for all entries
- Other English requirements are per Teesside University’s entry requirement

Mature Candidate
- Candidates who are at least 30 years of age with at least 8 years of working experience. To qualify as a mature candidate, you are required to submit a Personal Statement of not more than 200 words and 2 Referee Reports from at least one employer. Shortlisted applicants may be required to attend an interview.
